About Our Group: The Working Mothers’ Network is an informal club for working mothers in the towns of Millburn and Short Hills, New Jersey. We are a networking group for women who are striving to make the most of their careers, parenting and personal lives. Through communication and/or relationships with other working moms, members discover effective and enjoyable ways to balance and manage their multiple responsibilities and needs.
Women in the Working Mom's group find companionship, support, validation and assistance from other women who face challenges similar to their own. Participants offer one another experiences, contacts, connections and/or ideas that help each other solve problems and make progress towards their goals.
While meeting of the group are infrequent, they are excellent opportunities to brainstorm, network, and make new social and professional connections. Working Mom's listserv is an extraordinary resource for the group.
The group has no dues or bylaws, or required meetings - it is really just here for support. After all, we're busy moms.
Group Co-Leaders: Isabel Goldfaden and Jodi Rosenberg.
About our Meetings: When: Several times a year, not on any schedule. Announcements via the mailing list. Location: at members’ homes. RSVP to Isabel or Jodi (only if you're coming) so the host knows how many to accommodate.
About Our Mailing List: Jannette Pazer has set up an online mailing list for our group with googlegroups.com. To join the group, contact Jannette at admin@workmom.org and confirm that you are a working mother who lives in Millburn or Short Hills. She will add you to our “workmom” list through googlegroups. Any time any of us email workmom@googlegroups.com, all of us on the list will get the email. This way, you won't have to keep track of everyone's email address, only one of us has to.
The mailing list is a great place to get advice, seek recommendations for local services, such as preschools, doctors and contractors, and seek and offer nannies and babysitters. We also keep each other informed of local news and events, and even job opportunities. Usually, when someone asks for recommendations, they should compile all the responses into one email and send it out to the group. You can search for these compilations on our googlegroups website.
Our mothers have come to rely on our mailing list - how did we ever live without it?! |
