Subject: [workmom] Baby Nurses; Post-Partum Doulas Date: Wed, 01 Oct 2003 12:44:19 +0000 Welcome to the area and good luck! I'm expecting my first baby in November! Although I don't have direct experience yet with any of the following - I'll give you a list of responses that I compiled. I chose to hire a post-partum doula so that she can take care of me and the house as well as the baby! post-partum doulas: Donna Pecora (I hired this service) ph: 973-325-2012 cell: 973-220-8523 Donna runs a Doula service called Labor of Love and has several doula's on staff. Beth Carter Cradle & All, Inc. 35 Washington Ave. Basking Ridge Voice or Fax: 908-204-0089 email: CradleInc@aol.com Baby nurses: friends of mine recommended Comfort (the woman's name) 973-481-0223 Frances Stuart Agency - 212 439-9222 - nurse Saundra Crandon friends of mine recommended Jemma - phone# is 718-693-2568. Eden Agency, located in both Queens and NJ. We were very unhappy with the majority of their service. However, there is a baby nurse, Elaine Gayle, who we used for a few days. Her phone # is (718)217-9172. She comes from Brooklyn and you just have to pick her up from the train. She's bubbly and knowledgeable, and understands you need to rest Dave Agency, speak to either Keith or Dahlia (they are married). All of my sister in laws used nursed from them, 6 times and friends too. They are really great. The nurse we used was Maxine. "Austin Agency" for a baby nurse for both of my kids. They have a large inventory of good nurses. (It's hard to schedule a specific nurse in advance without knowing the exact time of need of course). So, therefore this agency works out well because they promise you that they will have someone for you when you are in need. Call Rick Wexler at (718) 268-2700. I also used the Austin agency for a baby nurse. You should call them way in advance to "get in with them", but if your due date changes as mine did by 5 weeks, they were extremely accomodating. We had Doris from I believe Guyana - who was extremely loving.
