Subject: [workmom] Camp Tips - Consolidated Date: Sat, 07 Aug 2004 01:22:02 +0000 Hi all, thanks for the quick response on camp tipping advice. Here's a conslidated list of info I received. Regards, Tracy I only tipped the group counselors and the bus counselor. If she had a great summer, I did $50 for senior, $40 for junior, $30 for CIT and $30 for bus. If it was only an okay summer I would do $40, $30 and $30. One year she LOVED the junior counselor so I gave her a little more. ---------------------------- This is what my camp sent out and I think it is low. I would appreciate feedback on it: Senior Counselor - $40-$50 Asst. Counselor - $35-$45 Jr. Counselor - $30-$40 Bus Counselor - $20-$30 Hope that helps. --------------- I don't think that is low especially if you have more than one child. I think that is the norm. I don't tip more than those guidelines and our camp gives the same ranges. -------------------- For my three kids, I've tipped $40 to senior counsellors, $30 to Jr. Counsellors, and $25 to CITs. I've tipped $20 per child to both the bus counsellor and bus driver. Boy it adds up, but all of these people have as you said, created a wonderful (and safe) summer for my kids. Our camp says that specialty counsellors (swimming, sports etc. ) can be tipped at your discretion, but I thought that this would open a huge pandoras box for me, so I don't tip any of them. If there was one that a child felt was a particular bright influence, I'm sure I would. It's interesting that our camp didn't mention the bus driver. Perhaps because they work for an outside company. But I loved our driver, depended on her for my kids' safety, and figure she doesn't make a mint. But I tipped her in cash, and wrote checks to the rest. ----------------------- My friend from Bergen county for an 8 week session is paying the following: Counselor 60 Jr Counselor 40 Cit 30 Bus counselor 20 Bus driver 20 Swim instructor 20
