From: Julie Subject: [workmom] Compiled carpet recommendations Date: Sun, 1 Aug 2004 17:35:28 -0400 -- We had an oriental installed on our staircase and absolutely love it. It wears really well and in our opinion looks great. We bought our oriental through Catherine Swanson at Belle Maison in Maplewood. Catherine also made our living room rug and it has worn extremely well and cleans well - we'd go through her for any other floor pieces in our home and wish we had used her for our den. Carpet Mill on Route 10 for our den/t.v. area carpet purchase. We bought a Karastan Berber (sp?) and other than the color which was our fault have been very happy with the wear, etc. Carpet Mill was very professional, on time, good installation, and an all around easy place to work with. They have a back room with a bunch of amazing remnants that they will install for you...if your room fits with one of these pieces, you can get an AMAZING deal on really good pieces. CarpetMobile. They are in the phone book--don't have the number off hand but the guy is named Richard and he's in Maplewood. He comes to your home with his vanload of samples. The brands are the same as you see in many of the stores and his prices are good I used Cove Carpet in Summit for wall to wall, and plan to go back when we replace the runner on our stairs. They were extremely helpful and reliable in the store, and also when they did the installation. Cove Discount Carpet on Springfield Ave (next to Ricky's Ice Cream and candy) in Summit is really good - Very professional and decent prices. I recommend J&S Designer Flooring in Morristown -tel: 973-605-5225. Make an appointement with Sima. I think their prices are fair and they have a really nice selection and Sima is wonderful. Tell her Laura Mosberg recommended you, if you use them. Good luck. J&S in Morristown (on Rt. 202, I think) for our carpets, including the carpet on the front stairs. We have a curved staircase and the installer spent 7 hours meticulously installing that one carpet. I've been very impressed with their carpets and service so far. Home Goods on Rte 46 in Parsippany. It takes about 20-25 minutes to get there. There are some great bargains there. However, some weeks it's hit or miss. Re Home Goods: There is one a lot closer on Rte. 22, near the Home Depot and TJ Maxx. The least expensive and largest selection is on Route 1 in New Brunswick. I forgot the name of the place - Carpet Wholesale something or Wholesale Carpet something.
