Subject: [workmom] Consolidated: DSL vs. Cable Internet Access From: Tracy Date: Mon, 14 Mar 2005 22:19:49 -0500 Hi all, below is the feedback re: comcast cable vs. DSL for internet access. There was positive feedback on both, with cable being faster but more expensive. Thanks for all the feedback ------------------- Comcast is cable and is always live. It's about 10+ times faster than DSL (Verizon, Earthlink, etc.). Having had both, I would recommend Comast cable. The speed is so important for browsing the internet and using email. DSL is like a highspeed dial-up service. I'm not a fan of Comcast for TV -- but they monopolize the market here, so we don't have another cable choice. But for internet, they are very reliable. It's rarely down and I'm on my computer all day long. We have one direct link into our home and then about 5 wireless computers throughout the house. We can all be on and there is no speed issue. ------------------- I have used both and they are about the same. I have switched around when a better deal comes along. Verizon may be a little cheaper. They are both very reliable. ------------------- We've had both dsl and cable - Cable is much faster! But then we're online a lot. ------------------- We use Comcast, mostly b/c they offer a discount (I believe) when you use both the cable tv service and the internet access. We haven't had any problems with it and it works great (nice and fast!). ------------------- Our vote is for comcast cable. We have had it for quite a few years and it works great and is easy to connect. ------------------- I love Verizon DSL. Never down and very fast. My husband is a computer consultant who deals with small business and home users. He always recommends cable (Comcast) over Verizon dsl. Cable is about $10.00/month more, but you are paying for speed and reliability. In fact, Comcast just upped their speed. If you have Cable for your televisions, then set-up for computer use is a breeze. DSL makes everything a lot harder than it needs to be.
