From: Wendy Subject: RE: [workmom] Interior painters Date: Wed, 16 Jun 2004 10:52:05 -0400 Here is a previously compiled list of painters: Here are the responses to my request for info on painters: We used Ed's Painting & Power Washing for most of the inside of our house. Ed & Craig did a wonderful job. They paint inside and outside, very professional, reasonable, and very neat. His phone number is 973-770-1212. Cell: 201-230-4895 I highly recommend them. I just used Paul Pinto. I think he is relatively new but very good, fair and CLEAN. His cell phone is 201-679-2507. He also did some faux painting on one wall in my bedroom that looks amazing. It is called venetian plaster. We used Ted Kelf who works on his own, is very reliable and very reasonably priced. He did a great job and was great to work with. His # is 908 918-1471. Classic Construction in Maplewood. They are neat, fast and prompt. 973-762-5604. Faux Painting Jodi Topitz in Millburn. She was great. Not only does she faux paint, she can paint murals. She faux painted 2 bathrooms for me and she faux painted my dining room....looks great. She also painted murals in my basement. It is very cool. She is also very reasonable. 973-762-0273. Outdoor -- We also used Rutgers painting, and they did a terrific job. 9 Women recommend Rutgers. 1 for Jerzy Painting in Short Hills. Phone is 973-379-5366. One thing to add about Jerzy Painting. We decided not to use them after they came to give us an estimate. Their rep wasn't very friendly, but he floored us when we took him into our new kitchen, complete with beautiful natural wood shaker maple cabinets. He looked at them and asked what color we wanted them painted! Note: the painter we ended up using (King Painting in Pompton Plains) I wouldn't recommend because the young guys who worked for him were slobs and weren't very thorough. I caught them washing off their paint brushes in my new bathroom sink, scraping the blobs of dried paint off the brushes by rubbing them under the drain stopper and walking across my expensive oriental rug with paint on their shoes. However, the boss was the only painter who had a clue how to reproduce the unusual stucco in our first floor rooms (basically you put plastery stuff on the walls in blobs, then sand it down to almost flat to create texture), and he was very good at matching colors so we could get away with painting only the specific walls that were changed during our renovations. So the boss was good, but his crew was lousy. If you have special stucco needs like that, maybe they would be still be useful if you keep a close eye on them. We found Rutgers Painting to be absolutely wonderful. Their number is 973/763-1670. Mike Mastrolcasa (908)277-2113 Paul Pinto. very good, fair and CLEAN. cell 201-679-2507. He also did some faux painting. Ted Kelf reliable and very reasonably priced. 908 918-1471. Ed's painting, neat, clean, honest and reliable. Work: 973-770-1212 Cell: 201-230-4895 I recommend Carlos Valverde painters. He painted the outside of my house last summer, and several rooms in the inside this month. His workers are professional, courteous, and skilled. And he is pleasant to work with and reachable. 973-669-8123 Interior painter: Brussian Strokes (David) 973-515-5151. Great service, very professional. I have used 'Rutgers' 763-1670 for exterior who were excellent and 'world of colors' (973) 313 2338 for interior who were very good and very reasonable , they only use benjamin moore paint too. Try Classic Construction in Maplewood. I can't find the phone #, but we have always been pleased with them.
