Subject: [workmom] Compiled Jewelers List From: Elise Date: Wed, 05 Jan 2005 08:27:23 -0600 Thanks to all that responded. Below is the compiled list of responses. I must say, Richard Wasserman got rave reviews. =================================== Richard Wasserman Jewelers He has two offices and he also lives in town: NYC: (212) 302-4266 23 West 47th Street Millburn: (973) 467-1616 Additional comments *. Eve and Richard Wasserman, who belong to B'nai Israel, own a jewelry business. They recently opened a second shop in Millburn (first shop is on 47th St.), which is opened on Saturdays only. I've never had any work done by them, but there is no question that they are reputable. The Wassermans are a family in town and Richard is absolutely someone you can trust. Richard Wasserman Jewelers is at 23 West 47th Street in NYC and their local showroom (in a bldg across from Taylor Park) is by appointment. Phone numbers are 212-302-4266 or 973-467-1616 and e-mail is rw14k@aol.com. Eve Wasserman's husband (very active members of CBI), Richard, owns his own jewelry business in the Diamond District in NYC (and I think he has an office here in Millburn as well). His number is 212-302-4266 (email: rw14k@aol.com). ----- You probably can trust Nancy and David Stone Jewelers in Millburn since they live next door to me. I doubt they would screw people in their town town and I know they have lived in Millburn and Livingston area for many years. ------- I just had something made at Yanina Jewelers in Cedar Grove. They are honest and wonderful to work with. They came very highly recommended to me and I can very confidently recommend them to you. In terms of cost, they are in the ballpark. The jeweler who recommended them to me said that they are competitive, and if you end up paying $50 more, it's well worth it. --------- Go to Oksenhorns and ask for Howie. Tell him that I sent you. They are honest and incredibly helpful. Similar comments... I really like Julius Oksenhorn right here in Millburn. I know at least 2 different women who have purchased diamonds there and have been very pleased, and I myself have had jewelry (some bracelets and my wedding pearls) repaired there and felt they were very honest. Good luck Someone said that when they took their ring to be repaired at Oksenhorn, they actually removed the stone and had her take it home while they did the repair. I thought that sounded great. ---------------------------------------------------------- From: Edith Subject: [workmom] Recommendation Needed for Trustworthy Jewler Date: Fri, 9 Jul 2004 18:19:00 -0400 It would be best if you could take it somewhere and watch them do it. Don't let the ring out of your sight. If you ever have a day you can go to 47th Street and be with the ring the whole time. I do have a jeweler on 47th Street that I like and trust - it is GNK, they do very good work. They are in the building on the corner of 47 and Fifth, they are way in the back. I like the people here in town at Bedazzled and on Saturday's they have their jeweler right there. They can get you everything and then you can bring your ring in and stay while he does it. If you have an appraisal and certification on your stone, you don't need to worry, because then you have proof of your stone.
