OK, here is the plumber list so far..

1. Rousso brothers did a wonderful job with several issues.  You pay by the
job, not the hour, (a good thing in my case).  They updated my steam system
as well.  They are polite ,on time and available in an emergency: the boiler
went off on a particularly cold day.  I explained that i could not miss work
that day they sent someone immediately and was done by 9

2. Marc Bliwise is great.  He was referred to me by others in the group and
I've used him several times.
He's fairly busy during the day, so usually returns calls in the eve (same
day) unless its an emergency.

3.   I recommend Corragio Bros. 973-379-1950 We've used them for about a
year and are very happy with them -- They are two brothers (Joe and Carl)
and sometimes a cousin (Kevin).  They fixed my toilet that my old plumber
didn't fix after two different attempts.  They've installed a new kitchen
faucet and a new boiler (PSEG kept telling me that the boiler was just old,
another plumber couldn't look at the boiler until it was turned off for
several hours, Carl walked in and in three minutes diagnosed the problem -
showed us the problem and patched it until a new one could be ordered and
installed.  They are very nice and considerate people to work with.

I second the Corragio recommendation.  When no one else would, they came
immediately when our basement was taking in tons of water during a heavy
rain, diagnosed the problem within 2 minutes (one of 2 sump pumps
broken), fixed it within minutes and charged a very reasonable rate. And
they were very understanding and pleasant on top of it all.
